Go Me!

My Dad got a pool table for his birthday. Not one of those buy-from-Argos, sits-on-top-of-a-proper-table type pool tables, but a proper solid table. A refurbished coin-op pool table. You can smell the club/pub it used to be in ingrained in the wood - ni-ice. So on Friday when we got here we had to help set it up - took four of us to move the table into place, and then four of us to carry the slate over to go on top of it - and then we found that it wasn't quite level. Given the incredible weight of the whole boomshebang, we used carjacks to lift the table up and get at the feet to adjust them.

Anyway, the pool table is in one of the outbuildings (used to be a barn). Lighting in that part of the building is rather poor - there was one bayonet fitting hanging by bare wires, and a strip light that didn't work. Clearly this was not good enough for what was likely to become a nexus of social activity (unlimited pool games, for free!). So I rewired the lighting in the room, removing all the crap that was there before and replacing it with two neatly placed bayonet fittings, which now both have energy saving bulbs in (100Watt equivalent, if you're that desperate for detail). Okay, so one of the lights didn't work first time, but that's a minor point. It's quite staggerling well done, even if I do say so myself. Was quite useful, because every time my pool playing was criticised I was able to say "yes, but have you seen the lighting in here?"

Basically, I rock :-)
