It's all happening...

Well, lots to talk about tonight. The biggest news is that we've had an offer on a house accepted, so will hopefully have made the transition from tenants to homeowners by the end of the summer. This is quite staggering, because on Friday night the whole housing thing was still looking quite bleak. Anyway, the details... two bedroom semi in Warwick, it's in a bit of a state on the inside but that seems to be mostly cosmetic. Needs a new kitchen but that shouldn't be a problem. I'm still a little shellshocked by it all and don't really know what to think about it, but it is cool, there's no denying that.

HBL! In draft form at least, HBL is finished! Finished the epilogue last night, and it was only a little while after that I actually realised it was all done. The epilogue isn't anything dramatic, just designed to tie a few loose ends and give you answers to the whole 'what happened next?' questions. It's still going to be a while until I'm ready to publish it, and then I'll be going through it all myself to tidy it up for the hard copy I'm gonna get done, redoing some of the clumsy bits that I never quite got right on the first time through, that sort of thing.

And work... EP is in and working fine, by the sound of it. Already they've come up with a list of enhancements they want for it, but they'll have to hang on for a bit for that, I'm afraid. Tough shit and all that, because I'm again working on the billing... this time rebuilding the history data as much as possible from scratch. Part of me hates the idea of being the one to juggle around with the figures that keep the account going... or at least being the one to write the programs that do the juggling... but for the most part I'm able to switch off from that aspect of the work and just get on with it. In some weird way it's kinda fun. I just hope I'm finally able to put this to bed for good this time. It would be nice to move on to something else... or to be able to get as far as migrating the system to a decent platform... believe it when it happens, and all that.

In other news, the glorious Rural Right (*hack*hack*hack* ... *spit*) have descended upon Warwick for their annual shindig in the form of the Royal Show... so all the Hunting Lobbyists and Farming Lobbyists are out in force... give me a fucking break. It's all a bit much for a delicate socialist like myself. If I see one more Countryside Alliance poster... given how close we live to the NAC at the moment there really is no getting away from it for us... maybe I'm really really not cut out for living in a rural area, regardless of how pleasant and peaceful it is most of the time. The place in Warwick is a little more urban, so I should be a bit more settled there...
